Biography

Started in Ham radio when I was growing up in the Philippines during the 60's, but when we came home in the early 70's, life got in the way and I took an Hiatus for 35 years until I retired. I immediately pickup up the Hobby upon my retirement and as quickly as possible I got my Technician license, then upgraded a couple months later to General. I was doing some consulting work for 4 years and finally started studying for my Extra class in May of 2015 and received my Extra Ticket this summer. I love the hobby and try to be involved in anything Ham that I can, however I also bought a small ranch and now have horses and cattle to tend to so my air time is not what I always want but I am active.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Currently Running an Icom 9100 for 2M-70CM and D-Star also as a backup HF radio with a Heil ProSet microphone, main HF rig is an Elecraft K3 with a Heathkit SB-220 amp. My current antennas are a KIO Hexbeam for 10, 15,17,20 and some 40M, and an OCF Diapole for 40M and 75/80M with a Heil 781 Pro mic and Heil Proset 3 headset.

I have an alternate QTH down in Sun City Grand, AZ and run a Kenwood 2000 with an MFJ Microphone and equilizer for 2m and 70CM and a backup HF rig, and an Elecraft K3 with an AL-811H Amplifier. The mic is again a Heil 781 Pro with a Proset 3 headset. The antenna currently is an OCF Diapole and am working with the association to get a KIO hexbeam approved but if I cannot do that I will create some yard art (Magnetic Loop Antenna) and have to do a few other tricks but will be working on that this winter when there.

Hope to hear you on the bands. -73
