Biography

Ham Since 1972, moved around alot and changed my call a few times. Enjoy SSB digital modes and SSTV and even digital sstv. Use Ham Radio Deluxe and also use MixW2.4

Spend most of the time now experimenting with JT9 lately and also JT65A HF, Have turned my power down as low as it can go and still get good reports. I am in a small yard so I use a 160meter sloper off of my tower and its folded back toward the tower and back out towards the mast.

Equipment

Icom 746 Stock bought new in 2000. It still seems new to me. on digital i use a compact toshiba ;laptop and also have a interface for the screen to go to a larger screen from a usb hub. this hub also breaks out audio in and out and also several usb ports going to my control box to control the rig and keyboard and mouse. very handy as all i have to do to take the PC with me is to unplug the power supply to the Laptop and just one usb connection. Very very handy! Use a 1275 audio interface to radio and computer for the digital modes. I also use a very handy Noise canceling device made by MFJ I think the model is the MFJ 1075. it works very well at combining two antenna's and nulling out all types of noise and junk produced by power lines and Plasma tv's they have to be the worst offender. my second antenna is a 160 thru 6 meter Butternutt vertical ground mounted.
For the SSB modes especially on 160 I use an Ameritron AL-572 which puts out almost the legal limit ( at least its close enough).
