Biography

Now retired from a 50-year career in environmental nonprofits and government agencies, I am the co-coordinator of public service 2-meter radio support for more than a dozen events in the North San Francisco Bay Area. The USS Pampanito WWII submarine radio room sees me on the air at least monthly. A student of Classical Italian Fencing and the Japanese Way of Tea, I can be found at Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park sailing model yachts several times a week. My QTH is in a redwood-forested box canyon, the "worst location for ham radio I have ever seen," according to Dean Straw, the retired editor of ARRL's Antenna Book.

Equipment

Kenwood TS-850 SAT barefoot with G5RV mounted as an inverted vee 20meters above ground at its peak.
