Biography

I got my novice ticket at age 16, 1960 in El Paso Texas. I have also held Conditional, General, Advanced, Technician and Extra licenses in that order. I am originally from Oklahoma City and attended Oklahoma State University and then Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. With my wife Sharon, I served as a Southern Baptist missionary in Japan from 1970 through 2009. We lived in Tokyo, Tokushima and Kyoto. I was able to operate as 7J5AAS as a member of the ham club I was a member of in Tokushima. I let my license lapse after my dad, K5PTC, passed away, but got it again after retirement. What a difference in test content! Analog to Digital. I had mainly used SSB, but now operate both digital (mainly psk) and SSB, with some cw thrown in for good measure.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

TS430S, Dipole about 40 feet up, vertical (not currently functioning), and Win 10 computer.
