Biography

I have been a ham operator, off and on, since 1958 when I got my novice ticket in Dallas, Texas. I am 79 years old, and have been active in the hobby since 1963. However, I got my first ticket, a Novice, in 1958. Held a conditional license while overseas in the U.S. Air Force and converted to a General License when I got back to the United States. I am an avid motorcyclist, hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. I have been married to the love of my life for 57 years.

I have two children and six grand-children. I operate from my ham shack and from my vehicle where I have a Kenwood TS 480SAT mounted in the center console of my truck.

Equipment

My shack consists of a Yaesu FT-1000MP, Yaesu FT-950, Icon IC-756PRO, Ameritron AL-811H amplifier, and Heathkit SA-2060 tuner. I also have a Heathkit SB-104 and Cubic Astro vintage stations. Antennas are a vertical delta loop at 35 feet, a AC/DC 160 meter dipole, a multi-band windom, and three other long wire dipole antennas cut to frequency.
