Biography

I have been a ham since 1979 first licensed in California as KA6EVR. I now hold a vanity license K5EVR. I have had better equipment in the past, however, we have to live within our "retired" budget now. I do remember in the past where you could walk into almost any electronic store and take your pick of used equipment for a modest price. Now everyone is out for the almightly dollar. So us retired guys who do not have many dollars have to live within there means which isnt much.

I am involved in Satern and frequent "The Satern Net on 14.265" most every day. I am also involved in digital nowdays.

Some have said that I really need a tuner designed for the ladder line that my station would work better. The ones that I have seen are designed for a max of 300 watts. It is a catch 22. It makes more sense to upgrade to handle a linear amp but then there is a large expense that I can not afford to do. So I will just trot along with what I have for now...I do maintain a battery for emergency ops if it should occur..
