Biography

I am located inland of beautiful sunny Fort Myers, Florida in a small town named Alva. I've been enthusiastic about wireless things and technology for a long time, but only recently, February, got my Technician ticket. Since then I've been fairly active on 10m, mostly FT8, FT4.  One of my goals of becoming a ham is to open up my communications umbrella a bit larger, so hoping on getting comfortable to SSB with everyone soon.

My current setup is an Icom 7300 with a Buckmaster DX-OCF-HP160, stretched below the trees near the line below. The blue is the balun and the red X is where my shack is. Hopefully I can organize it enough to get a picture up. My second rig is an Icom 5100 and a Comet DS-150S Discone antenna for local repeater use. I also have a handful of Icom and Yaesu handhelds while I'm on the road. Eventually I'll throw something together in the truck.

I have a pretty decent setup for going portable, that I've run for a while in the "yard", taking my 7300, and mixing it with a Chameleon MPAS 2.0 antenna, a raspberry pi, and a 15" portable monitor that I can tote around.

See you on the air!
