Biography

Hello!

My name is Dave Williams from Birmingham AL. USA. I am self-employed as an audio mastering / mixing engineer, owner of Scary Pedals - handmade guitar effect pedals, also a musician of over 44 years playing drums, guitar, bass, and a bit of keys as well! Of course I also love radio! I began SWL'ing at age 14, later in life ended up with my own DX program twice monthly on Radio Copan International Honduras. After ending that little gig I got back into music again, having been involved in bands since I was 12. Eventually got into music mixing and mastering work and after some years - RADIO once again!

10 meter beacon K4DXY/B. 300MW On the air 24/7. Sometimes I run 2.5 watts on weekends.

Freq: 28.234.3
Power is about 300 MW.
Antenna: A99 Vertical seated on 22 ft pole.
*Operation: 24 hrs.

Reports of my beacon are appreciated! I will verify all via email, snail mail, or E-QSL!

All foreign QSL Card for beacon or QSO contact requests please send one US dollar ($1.00)

Talking 10 Meter Band - At Night?

We all know that 10 meter propagation is mostly daytime. That said - look how close it is to 11 meters, and lot's of people talk 11 meters at night - so why not 10 meters? It's quiet, it's perfect! I'm talking ground wave signals, local communication of 10 - 50 miles. But why doesn't anyone here locally do it? I'm not talking about repeater work, I mean talking the old fashion way, Simplex!

Let's Start A Local 10 Meter Night-Time Net!

If you are a ham close to the Birmingham Alabama area (0-50 miles) and would like to get a group talking on 10 meters at night - please send me an Email! The net would be sort of an informal net check-in type of thing or even a rag-chew! 10M is too quiet at night folks, let's warm up the air waves of 28 MHz! All interested parties please use the contact link above and drop me a message! I'm usually monitoring around 10:00PM - 3:30AM CST Give me a shout on 10M USB:

28.327
28.340
28.400

if I hear you you'll certainly get a reply! No reply? Try me on 2 meters!

146.760
146.880
146.520
146.580.

Thanks and 73!
Dave Williams - K4DXY
