Biography

In 1987, I started working with 11Meters band as an amateur radio in the City of Colon, Rep. Panama, making more than two hundred confirmed contacts per month from all around the world.

In 1989, I was part of the Panamanian National Civil Defense, known there as Sistema Nacional de Proteccion Civil (SINAPROC), based in the city of Colon. I was in charge of the logistics section and expeditions and activities in the rural areas in order to test and install communication camps in areas of high altitude in case of emergencies.

Today I work for the City of Hollywood as a Microcomputer Analyst II in charge of computer support for the city. I am also in charge of the Ham Radio portion of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the city. We are linked to other EOC ham members in South Florida in order to provide communication when all else fails.

I am a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), which is the national organization of amateur radio operators, and of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), which consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.
