Biography
Hi my Name is Bill and I have been a Ham Radio Operator for the past 2 years. I recently upgraded to a General Ticket and am now exploring the many wonderous avenues of HF. My station here in New Jersey consists of a Kenwood 440S/AT with the Kenwood SP 430 Extenal Speaker, Kenwood MC60 Desk Microphone and a Kenwood PS 430 Power Supply. All were recently purchased at a local hamfest. I also use a Signalink for PSK31 and I am about to explore the world of RTTY. My antenna is a Comet CHA-250B about 31 feet above my two story Town House.
I do not yet belong to a bureau but am looking into it. QSL's may be sent to the above address and SASE are not necessary.
I am currently thinking about upgrading my rig to the Elecraft 100W Kit - (The Ultimate Radio IMHO) within the next few weeks. (Update: August 25,2014) Pulled the trigger today and placed an order for an Elecraft K3 Kit (Full Blown) - Watch out World !
I am a board member and Vice President of the Nutley Amateur Radio Society ( NARS ) www.nutleyradio.org. and I am also the Assistant Cubmaster for Pack 141 in Nutley, NJ. I am also a member of the Digital Modes Club - DMC # 07272.
I have two children from my second marraige to a lovely Trophy wife who is 35 years young while I am semi retired at the ripe old age of 63. Nobody told me, the Trophy Kids come a couple of years after the Trophy wife ! I have two children from my previous marriage, a son, who is a Major in the US Army, married with two children, at the NATO School in Italy and a daughter married with three children, living in San Francisco.
From my current wife, I have a son William, who is studying for his Tech Ticket (age 10) and a daughter who is 7 going on 15. Also a total of 5 Grandchildren, all younger than my current kids. Sure does keep me busy ! Or is that DIZZY ?
The photo above is of my son William and myself. This was taken in January 2014 during our Pinewood Derby - William was the 1st Place winner!
PS: I would like to take this opportunity to profusely thank the efforts and teachings of this hobby to me by Mr. Dennis Sabato (AB2DX). Thanks to Dennis I am now having the time of my life with HF and Digital. Oh and thanks for bringing & holding the ladder, Dennis !
73's for now and thanks for looking at my bio !
Bill
