Biography

I am a ham cartoonist doing what I love. First licensed in 60s, I drifted away from teenage hamming but my recurring boat anchor dreams wore me down and brought me back in 2001. Now retired, most of my day job life was in aerospace/telecom manufacturing, pimarily with conductive elastomeric gasketing and metal EMI/RFI shielding. Before that, I was a small market AM radio producer/copywriter. Throughout I've been a writer/cartoonist and during the latter 20th century published comix in alternative papers in New York, Boston, Baltimore/DC and San Diego among others.

I began drawing my web comic "Dash! The Dog-Faced Ham" in 2005 and have published two volumes of his graphic memoirs recalling those Space Race/Cold War kid ham days. If you're not already a Dash!Chum, stop by www.dashtoons.com for all the ham funnies and fun.

For hamming I like casual contesting, great for getting people to listen for a pedestrian signal from an unrare QTH. Sometimes a nice CW ragchew hits the spot too. I like 160, WARC bands, but I bounce all around HF when I'm so inclined.

BTW, the map data is outdated, apparently tied to my old QTH in New Hampshire. Now living happily in the New York's scenic Hudson Valley.

Best QSL route is DIRECT. SASEs lovely.
