Biography

I am active on all bands and if you hear me on the air, be sure and call! I would love to meet with you. I was hooked on amateur radio when I was 12 years old and the thrill hasn't stopped plus the euphoric feelings remain. I got my Novice at 12 and my General license at 13. I was hooked!

Another love of radio is QRP and if you hear me on, please call! The low power I use (Xiegu G-90 20watts, IC-703-5 watts, RockMite-500mW, NorCal 40A - 2 watts, TutHill 80m TUT 2.5 watts, and more) doesn't allow me to have many QSOs per hour but I would like to meet you. I am very interested and active in the New England QRP Club and there is always something 'going on.' Check us out. (WWW.NewEnglandQRP.ORG) The NE QRP logo is, "The Excitement Is Building. . . . " and it sure is! PLUS, I like working CW and belong to FISTS (#6666, CC#2222) which just keeps CW alive and well on the bands. "If it isn't CW, it's just CB." You don't hear trash on CW like you do on the phone portions and CW operators are REAL operators. Also, the Straight Key Club is a bull dog for keeping CW alive! Check me out . . . SKCC #2662. Did I mention NAQCC #2112? Good clubs!

A fun time I truly enjoyed was using CW when operating 13 Colonies Special Event station K2K. I was the K2K/QRP station for New Hampshire and I loved making QSOs with those who understand what the 13 Colonies stood for years ago. New Hampshire was the 9th state to ratify the constitution to become the U.S. of America and that is why NH is the 9th stripe (RED) below the stars on the American Flag. Thirteen Colonies was a mind rush to hear stations calling me...QRP and looking for a NH QSO. The QSOs were world wide and I loved it--and still do!

My second love in amateur radio is QSLing and I wish I could send (and receive) a QSL from EVERY QSO I make. I hope that you're reading this and will send me your QSL for I will always send you mine. Some of my best QSLs were home made from novice contacts I made in the early 60s. My latest QSL card was designed by a former student in my English class who doodled and I took it from there. The guy on the QSL is NOT me but from the imagination of my former student. The cartoon is too mean looking! :-) and I would like to say at least I can SMILE! Home brew QSLs are the best!

I moved to 2 acres in Brookline, NH and now have the antennas I have always wanted. My sixty foot tower is perfectly placed on the side of my house and I have my Mosley TA-36 riding high on top. In the morning, when the sun first shines, the glimmer of the aluminium makes me smile to see my antenna up there ready for action. Does it get any better?

When you hear me calling from NH--come back! My QSL is waiting for you. Won't you call?
