| Biography
Hi!! Tom / Doc here.
I earned my olde First 'Phone license in April of 1954, when I was 17 and later added the radar endorsement. First licensed as a ham in 1956.
I operate mostly FM and some several VOIPs: EchoLink 50511; IRLP where the most monitored 9451 is the Des Moines (the one in Iowa) 10-meter repeater - KD0WPK; AllStar 43675; and NXDN 1206. (I will only mention GMRS - WQNU766 - but will not do more than just this mention!)
Equipment is here for 160 through 1.2 GHz. except the 5 MHz. allocation. I would like to find a standalone transceiver for this band. I also have approval to operate on the two VLF bands and have looked into the 40 MHz. experimental spectrum. A 4-meter band would be fun.
Two operating CW beacons here are on 28.250 MHz, and 144.290Mhz.
My main career was a high school teacher for about 40 years and my second as in broadcasting for about as much time -so I could afford to teach to support a large family. I have a doctorate in education - "Doc".
Radio groups include: life member of ARRL, life member of REACT, Iowa 10-meter Group - KD0WPK, and ARMS.
My preferred e-mail for radio is k0htf@arrl.net. My QTH is contiguous to Des Moines, the one in Iowa.
Otherwise, I am Methodist, Gideon, Mason, and Kiwanian – plus several more.
73 ES Travel safe!! Tom / “Doc”.
