Biography

I answer to my middle name: Mark

I am a retired 36 year career newspaper executive and I was a Captain (ret) in the Civil Air Patrol and deputy squadron commander of the Rochester (MN) Composite CAP Squadron, SAR aircrew member and an EMT.

Currently, I am listening/working D-Star daily on reflectors 01C, 53A and 30C. Additionally, I work HF daily both SSB and PSK31 (using FLDIGI) and FT8.

I live in a Townhome with a HOA antenna restriction, so I deploy an excellent Diamond BB7v vertical 10-80 meter antenna.

I also enjoy SWL which was a teenage introduction to long distance radio transmissions on an exceptional Zenith tube type transoceanic radio that was loaned to me by my uncle during the 1960s.

I am a member of Rochester (Minnesota) Amateur Radio Club (rarchams.org), ARRL, Minnesota Wireless Association, ARES and SkyWarn.
