Biography
I am active on 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, 6, 2m and 70cm.
My favourite modes include SSB and the main digital modes (PSK, Olivia, and JT65, JT9). I would like to try any of the rarer digital modes so email me for a sched.
My equipment includes an Apache Labs Anan-100 7-receiver SDR (highly recommended!), an Icom IC-7600 (love it!) for 160 to 6m, IC-911 (successor to the IC-910) for VHF/UHF/Satellite, and a TS-60 for 6m monitoring.
Antennas include a Mosley Mini-33A WARC for 20/17/15/12/10m, a Butternut HF9V (80m to 6m 9-band vertical), a small vertical for 15/10/6/2m, a 10 element yagi for 2m, and a G5RV Jnr for 40/30m. The Mini-33A WARC works well on 10m, ok on 20/17/12m, but below average and not as good as my small vertical on 15m (not sure why; the SWR is fine). Despite the lack of performance on 15m I am satisfied with this compact beam antenna.
The HF9V 9-band vertical is a good performer and highly recommended where larger antennas won't fit. Being a vertical it is noisier on receiver and I find that on some bands using the HF9V on transmit and another antenna on receive gives the best overall performance.
