Biography

I got started with amateur radio when I was 16 as JA8FND while living in Hokkaido area. With a 10meter AM transceiver, although it was the time when amateur radio had already started using SSB, I enjoyed AM communications with domestic and overseas stations including AS, OC, EU and the US. After one year of enjoying 10meter band, I moved away from there and left amateur radio behind for a while.

45 years later when I retired from an electronics company, where I worked for telecom systems, I started enjoying again amateur radio in 2014 using a small transceiver and a 2meter long (short!) “Whip” antenna. Considering the antenna efficiency and my home location, a five story apartment house surrounded many buildings with full of artificial noise circumstances, I like operating JT65 mode on each weekend. One good thing here is I can see the Mt. Fuji 70mile far from here, hoping he could reflect my weak signal for overseas (?).

I like receiving a paper QSL card as well as eQSL, LoTW. If you send me one, you'll get one in return (no envelope/stamps required).

Thanks and 73
