Biography

Amateur radio station JA8TRT was established in March 1974. I think it was about two months later that I really became hooked on making contacts overseas via CW. I was 14 years old at the time. While there were some much older mentors around, most of the operators were boys about my age.

Now, nearly half a century has passed—an almost unbelievable stretch of time—and when I listen to the bands these days, I find myself chuckling a bit. Many of the operators still transmitting are the same faces (or rather, callsigns) from 50 years ago!

My fingers don’t move the key quite as effortlessly as they used to, but I’m healthy and enjoying life, especially spending time with my three grandchildren.

If you happen to hear my signal on CW or FT8, I’d be delighted to have a QSO with you. 73&88.
