Biography

B"H"

Licensed in February 1973, Extra Class.

" Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you, all the remaining is pure commentary " !!

Health, love, peace, and prosperity to humankind and the Ham Radio Universe!

Licenced in Italy in November 1979 as: i4oqa.

•Licence class: A

Why Ham Radio?

At that time, I was 8 years old,...and "got involved" with the US Army site Kagnew Station, Asmara / Ethiopia, now Eritrea, USArmy Radio Station.

Hundreds of Collins... unthinkable antennas monitoring the former CCCP and China from an altitude of more than 7,000 ft above sea level. I was the station's kid...!

Kagnew Station operated from 1949 / 1975. It was built by Italy as Radio Marina just before the WW2.

Check the Web, Kagnew Station. Amazing history and images. Also Wikipedia. Kagnew Station and Asmara on YouTube.

No Cat!
Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio, replied:
"You see, a wire telegraph is a kind of very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York, and his head moves in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."

• Being NOT fanatically active since being licensed in February 1973. Mostly DX (HRDLog.net ) and NOT interested in Contests.

Ham Radio is a kind of sport: those who practice too intensively will die soon! Is the concept clear enough?

•Retired from business in January 2014. Ceo of Multinational Medical Corporation. Ohh my G_d, what am I going to do now...?

Besides Amateur Radio, I am a book collector and reader.

Music: love Classical music, smooth Jazz and Rock ( Mark Knopfler Classic Rock).

Music: play piano, synthesiser, Sax Contralto and trumpet.

Frequent traveller, both business and pleasure.

Photographer.

Hate the sea and adore mountains.

Hate summer and adore all other seasons.

Adore Italian wines. My region's wine!

There comes a time in a man's life when, to get where he has to go, if there are no doors or windows, he walks through a wall.

Always listen to experts. They will tell you what CANNOT be done and WHY. Then DO IT!

The Holy Ark was built by Amateurs and the Titanic by Experts. Don't wait for experts!

The Wright Brothers flew right through the smoke screen of impossibility!

Dear Ham-Radio fellows, does your Radio have a Receiver?

There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds.

If you have enough fantasies, you are ready in the event that something happens.

OCFD, off-centre feed dipole, multiband, home-built, on an inverted V setup.

•New: double bazooka monoband 17 meter, on an inverted V setup.
•New: double bazooka monoband 40 meter, on an inverted V setup.

•I do not have an antenna FARM but an antenna ZOO and :

•TS 830 S, TS 700 S, Matching Network Drake MN 2700, TL 922, 2 MD-50 Microphone, Vibroplex.

•Sorry, no Radio Montecarlo audio set up and microphones at this end,... so no Pavarotti sound.

•February 2014: Yaesu FT DX 1200, FFT1, Microphone Yaesu MD-200 a8x, Power supply Diamond mod. GSV 3000.

March 2014, removed my 40-year-old Triband Yagi Fritzel and installed :1 Multiband aluminium Delta loop antenna. , and will install a second Multiband aluminium Delta Loop antenna in a cross setup. N/S and W/E .

Closed loop antennas are always less sensitive to noise than open driven element antennas (e.g. vertical or dipole). This Multiband Delta Loop antenna has a unique configuration and feed solution resulting in low-angle radiation, making it a great performer on real DX.

•Performs well on (30)-20-17-15-12-10m.

•Usable on lower and higher bands with reduced performance.

•Low radiation angle due to novel top-feed system using low-loss ladder line.

•Based on the Multibander 7PL antenna.

•Bi-directional and very low noise in comparison to a vertical.

•Design is non-resonant, so an ATU is required.

•Complete with ladder line, main loop wire, aluminium telescopic rods, matching transformer.

•Wideband balun can handle 1 Kw continous.

•High quality SO-239 socket with goldened centre pin and Teflon as insulator.

•Balun black ABS/PC box. UV-resistant.

•Specialy designed dedicated center insluator and ladder insulators made from black ABS/PC - Crash and UV resistant.

•Very solid poliamid clamps for mounting antenna arms.

•Wire elements made from DX-Wire wires. Ladder DX-Wire type F. Upper wire DX-Wire HDL. Wires with PE cover. UV-resistant.

•Antenna base made by a CNC machine.

My friends, radio amateurs, from what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life!

Flowers grow out of dark moments!

He who promises runs in debt.

When you teach your son, you teach your son's son.

If you have got money, then you are wise, good-looking and can sing well and dance too.

A man can live about 40 days without food, about 3 days without water, about 8 minutes without air, but only for 1 second without hope.

Pay careful attention to what you desire because you may get it!

Retirement at 60 is ridiculous. When I was 55, I still had pimples!

Growing old is mandatory: growing up is optional.

Protest long enough that you are right, and you will be wrong.

My friends, anYiddish proverb: " When a poor man eats a chicken, one or the other is sick "!

My grandfather: " Necessity can break iron!

Another Yiddish proverb: " Love your neighbour, even if he plays the trombone "!

Aries have a courageous and competitive nature!

In time, even a bear can be taught to dance.

Aries have so much energy and enthusiasm, it's difficult to keep pace with them.

This is a good one: " If you want to be a barber, practice on someone else's beard " !! Hi...
