Biography

HB9DSU is the Swiss callsign of Pete Parisetti MM0TWX.

I am a university professor, teaching disaster risk reduction to graduate and doctoral students. I am also a professional recording and performing artist, however. My CDs have sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Besides ham radio, my other passion/obsession is mountaineering - I am a keen rock and ice climber.

My ham radio passion has taken many forms during the last 30 years. I have had my fair excitement of HF DXing and contesting - including operating from a few DX locations (S79, 4J, 4L, 9Q5, J3) - but I always liked wandering around the many sectors of the hobby. I hold the DXCC Honor Roll, the 5BDXCC, 160DXCC and I have 198 zones confirmed for the 5BWAZ. I have done quite a bit of satellite work and VHF weak signals, particularly meteorscatter, and a little EME.

Between January 2010 and December 2011 I got myself into a new challenge - to find out how many countries I could work on the 9 HF bands plus 6 metres using only an inverted L antenna for 160 with a tuner, and from a bad suburban location, surrounded by hills an mountains. The results have surprised me a great deal - 261 DXCC countries and 1341 band points. You may want to visit my website www.hb9dsu.com "For the Love of DX" to read about serious DX activity from a bad location.

After the challenge, I am left with nothing, really nothing new to do. So I am digging into CW, which I have used all my life for DXing, trying to improve my skills and enjoying rag chewing at reasonable speeds. What a FANTASTC hobby!

Thanks for looking up my page, and 73.
