Biography

I was interested in Electronics and Amateur Radio as a scholar, and, after studying for the exam as a student, was granted the G8VYO licence to really engage in the hobby.
Due to commitments at college, work, and as a charity volunteer (on Hospital Broadcasting), I really had little time for the hobby for many years.
But, after many years of various electronics, computing, and communications work, I then re-visited my original local Amateur Radio Society to refresh my interest in the hobby, and get involved once again.

I am attempting to catch up on the many developments that have occurred in Amateur Radio whilst I've been away, with quite a focus on Digital Modes as it suits my circumstances.
I'm learning about antenna design (once again), and I am starting building my own.

I am currently rebuilding a 'shack' and workbench, but have limited options for antennas at the QTH.

Presently using a Yaesu FT-897, an AT897 antenna tuner, with a loft-mounted 'G5RV Junior' Inverted V antenna for HF, and a home-brew 2m Yagi-Uda beam, a J-Pole, or 'Slim Jim' for VHF/UHF.
