I started my working life a TV engineer may years ago before moving on to other things. I was licensed in the early eighties with the help of G3ZFE Mike Welling sadly now silent key. I was active for a while on VHF before moving on to other hobbies.
A few year ago I was fortunate to visit Bletchley Park home of the code breakers https://www.bletchleypark.org.uk. While on my visit I discovered the National Radio Centre which rebooted my interest in amateur radio.
Quite a lot had changed since the eighties including my licensing conditions which now allow me access to the HF bands.
My working conditions at my home QTH consist of a Icom 7300 and a multi band end fed antenna. and various other bits and bobs of equipment.
I'm interested in using digital modes at my QTH and portable. when portable I use a Yeseu FT-817 with a Sotabeams dual band hopper on 20 meters or 40 meters or my homebrewed loop antenna. building small projects and antennas with a special interest in magnetic loop antennas.
I also dabble with a small Satnogs VHF ground station www.satnogs.org using a raspberry pi and a homemade j pole antenna.
I have a TYT MD380 and an shark RF openspot for DMR.
