Biography

I have recently passed my foundation exam and I am working towards my intermediate licence.
I am a skilled fabricator specializing in Stainless steel fabrications, Mainly breweries.
I am also a member of the South Derbyshire and Ashby Woulds ARG.

I have now passed my intermediate exam and become a 2E0. Sept 2016.
Now up to 50w things may become easier.
Still experimenting with home brew antennas and loving it!

3 element homebrew beam for 2m is great and goes portable.
Presently working on baluns and ununs for wire antennas.

UPDATE
I've found digital modes! Working PSK and FT8 is fascinating and addictive especially with the poor band conditions at present.
Also started working satellites with the HT. Amazing, is there no end to the fun you can have?

6m is my new favorite band you just don't know whats coming next.

Passed the full license exam hence the callsign G5RJH.

Equipment

My station consists of the following;
Yaesu FT747gx
LDG 100 atu
A99 vertical aerial.
2M/70cm handheld. Baofeng UV5R
New addition-Yaesu FT7900R/E
Diamond X30 dual band antenna.(Base)
Diamond NR-770H dual band antenna(Mobile)

There is also a G5RV (half size) which has yet to be erected. A few problems to over come!
G5RV is up and working. Really pleased with it.(24th April 2016)

Who said this hobby was cheap :)

6 Element beam for 2m due soon! (Arrived and working, however it is in a temporary position at present)

New addition-FT60E HT. Great little radio and real handy.

FT290r,old but cheap.Give me something else to play with!

Just built a delta loop for 6m, really impressed, so simple yet effective, love it.

New addition of an ASCOM Se550 for 4m. Time for another antenna build!

Update
Complete change around. New shack, yet more radios. FT 897d Ft 817nd
ATAS 120 for mobile use.
Solar panels for portable use and field days.

All the digital modes are coming into play and really enjoying radio, hope to catch you somewhere on the bands.

Recently retired (24/03/21) so treated myself to a Yaesu FT991a.
