Biography

I am an ex Royal Navy (Submarine Service) Telegraphist. My main interest is in CW and some FM VHF/UHF work. I am one of the two operators at GB2AIR the Doncaster Aircraft Museum (Doncaster Aeroventure) from which I operate when time allows. I was licenced in 1984. I have operated from HZ1AB (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia) and also 7Z1AB the U.S. Embassy Radio Club in Riyadh (both now closed down). I teach CW at the Worksop Amateur Radio Society club in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. I like to QSL my contacts and to received their cards in return. I do not like e-QSLing either for myself or for GB2AIR , paper cards via the Bureau or Direct being preferable.

Equipment

My home station is an Icom IC-7300 with an end fed sloping 110 feet end fed wire. At GB2AIR I use my ICOM IC7000 with a Windom Antenna. I use an LDG antenna matching unit with the IC7000. At home I also have a G5RV full size and a 10m vertical.
