Biography

I Went to the Red House school on Overberry, then The Abbey School in Tewkesbury, followed by King's school Gloucester. Passed my first license ( B )in 1983 as G6XRJ, Attended Wray Castle College, Ambleside from September 1983, began intense Morse training, two weeks later i passed my 12wpm amateur test (Mr Buzby was my examiner).I became G4WUH :- " G 4 Wake Up Happy"

Wray Castle was a Merchant Navy Radio Officer collage, where I passed my MRGC(Radio Officer exam) & Joined the Merchant Navy via E.B Communications & Marconi Marine(I sailed on the M/V Barentzgracht-PCZB, M/V Houtmangracht-PEUD, M/V Waterschout-PIGO & PJGS, M/T Stella Pollux-PHST, M/V Telnes-VRPA, DSV Deepwater 1-C64BM, M/T Sponsalis – PHRD ).

I Married in 1987, and we have 2 sons. After a few years of the ships I left as a Senior Radio officer & went onto shell/BP & Agip oil and gas rigs/Platforms in the North sea (Brent Bravo & various in the Brent Field, Tiffany platform & various semi sub's), followed by a stint in Baku Azerbaijan, next few years spent as a telecoms consultant, in Asia, California & Europe. Now Working Globally in Telecommunications.

My last contract was working at EE in Bristol as the “ Senior Design Controller” in Radio Access Design.

Amateur radio has been a good, reliable friend of me over the years, apart from being fun, many radio amateurs around the world have been so helpful to me over the years, when i have been travelling. Thanks to all I have met over the past years.
