Biography

My Name is Ron Hardie ,I live in the South West of the UK between the coties of Bristol and Bath ,I have been a licensed Radio Amateur for over 25 years and have been involved in radio in one way or another for a long time ,I work in the Aircraft industry and worked for Airbus for arounf 35 years before retiring in 2010 - six months later I was aked to return on a part time basis and I continued to work for Airbus as a supplier Operations manager working in South Korea and China until the end of 2015 when I finally retired
I have a number of other hobbies as well as radio ,I am a fanatical fly fisherman and enjoy travel where I can ,i also have spent some time restoring a 27 year old MX5 which i use in the summer ,I chair the local Council and hold a number of other voluntary responsibilities
I respond to all e-mails and QSL's either through the bureau or direct and also use eQSL ,you can find further details on QRZ.com

Equipment

Yaesu FT 950 main station rig driving a Ameritron AL811H linear into a cobweb at 35feet ,mic is either Heil MH10 or Yaesu MD200,I also use a number of other radios for HF and digital operation - all modes ,D star,c4fm and DMR through various hotspots but mostly the open spot ,i use an Elecraft KX3 with an amp when required also Icom IC7300,IC 5100 and IC7100 and a Kenwood TS-440S MD785 and MD 380 for DMR , antennas in use are trapped wire di pole ,off centre fed di pole for 20 metres and hustler vertical ,Ialso use a co linear for 2,6 qnd 70 cms ,station is as usual always changing all the time !!
