| Biography Hi There, thanks for the lookUP, OP:Peter QTH nr Portsmouth on the South Coast of the UK - spent 32 years in the printing industry as a machine manager using Heidelberg 5 colour presses mostly computer controlled - met a chap who put me onto Ham radio back in the 70's and got hold of an old Boat Anchor called a B40, also a CR100 - That was my staring point and have never looked back - was strictly CW in the beginning but learned there are other modes too, I naturally took to Digital modes after getting a Sinclair Spectrum (Noise was horrendous) Hi . . . I now immerse myself in the shack playing with and using various bits of Ham Software which make the hobby even more interesting especially Logging Programs - I can recommend CQRlog for Linux - Winlog32 I have used for W Doze but have just returned to using Log4OM v2 (2nd Generation) as of May 2020 its under test with me and looking good.
Moving on, it's now 2025 - we've changed address, antennas, Location, Situation . . .
No longer using Windoze, now using Linux once again and very happy with it- could'nt stand the windoze GUI, and constantly found myself searching in vain for files but linux is just so simple and I can keep tabs on where everything is - I run two boxes here in the shack one of which is a MAC (Running Linux) and they talk to each other, so introduced them to my phone too - one happy family :-) it gets better - I now run Qlog, a cross platform Logger which is similar in many ways to Log4OM, but better ? I love the display, the maps, the grid squares, and easier filters, and editable log entries, and the fast qrzee lookups - linux now covers pretty much everything I need in Amateur Radio - even my favorite digimodes.
