Biography
Early times spent with Brian G2ATU as a listener (local postmaster) and then started to bite the bug with the purchase of a Yaesu FR50 receiver in the early 1970's from G8CA at Axminster. Unable to afford the licence, the RAE was passed in 1972 (age 14) with the help of the Physics master at school G3RJH..and had to wait for college when the morse was passed (helped by G3ZJL Phil, and Tony G3LAA at Brunel Tech Bristol) and the call, G4EZZ was allocated on the 27th April 1976.
First club... Shirehampton RC... then North Bristol.... South Harrow.... and Hayes & District (G1DXY etc)... Northampton RC (never had the time)... and here ARACE (St Malo & District)
Primarily interested in QRP and QRPp operations with special interests in WW2 clandestine radio sets following the reception of a full set of drawings from Jean ON1LJ of THE B2 set that was used by the SOE operative "Tintin" in the Wallon part of Belgium in 1942-44. Several sets have been built over the years, and passed onto other amateurs and now, with the lack of old world components, the time has come to redesign the B2 into a newer, but much less sophisticated unit than many of the black boxes today
The last years have been spent doing what I love best..... designing, building and installing wind turbines and from 2005-2012 had my own small business here in France.
Other love of my life... my BMW K1200LT.... another story!
