Biography
Celebrating 50 Years Licenced Radio Amateur
First licenced in 1971 at the age of 14 years I have been involved in amateur radio for 54 years. Originally licenced as G8FHU I have held the callsigns GM4CFS, GW4CFS, VP8CRN, ZB2/GM4CFS, IT9/GM4CFS and EA8/G4CFS
I enjoy operating on all bands using SSB, CW and Digi modes. I spend as much time as I can operating portable from mountain tops as part of the SOTA awards programme http://www.sota.org.uk . I have recently become addicted to 6m and have spent a lot of time improving my set-up. I am usually found around 50.230 Mhz at the moment working meteor scatter with JT6M & ISCAT. I also enjoy operating via the OSCAR amateur satelites. In addition I also operate SSTV using MMSSTV software. BPSK31 and RTTY using MixW and JT65 & JT9 using WSJT-X. Are you fed up with too many SSTV stations on 14.230? Then try Narrowband SSTV (N-SSTV) on the WARC bands ( https://narrowsstv.wordpress.com/ )
