Gained my license when I was 16 and went on the air mainly on CW using an old AM/CW transmitter.
I was active for a few years before moving away to study electronics engineering at UCL in London. I started my career as an electronic engineer working for several companies including Racal. Leaving Racal I spent some time as a consultant before turning full time to my websites: Radio-Electronics.com (http://www.radio-electronics.com) for professional engineers and my other site Electronics+Radio (http://www.electronics-notes.com) that has more ham radio information on it.
I have had articles published by the RSGB, ARRL and the a number of other publications. In 2002 I won the inaugural Bill Orr Award for Technical Writing from the ARRL (2002). I've also had several books published by the RSGB and other publishers.
I am active on HF CW & SSB as well as having some occasional VHF / UHF contacts as well.
