Biography
Thank you for visiting ..... I am now retired from my profession of Chartered Building Engineer in private practice. I was first licenced in 1982 with G6TVH and in 1983 G4TVH, with some time out early 2000 for quite a while with other family things. I have so enjoyed morse the most, over the years and operate QRP for majority of my time, sometimes doubling the power to 10 watts!
In the last week of November 2023 I had received my invitation of membership to join the CWOps and then also joined Essex CW ARC. Had a day at their "2025 Boot Camp" with some very fine ops.
I have since enjoyed many QSO's with others and to operating with much pride on a personal achievement. Still some way to go though in refinement and staving off brain wilt but now well into 2025 with more consolidated headcopying which is a different level with age!! Now 76 turns on the coil .... and have changed my callsign very recently with this one G3DJB.
I am still practicing with QRQ [QRS++] but that is still ongoing as it will perhaps never stop! Morse is an art that everyone I have spoken to that has achieved 20 wpm or more, and can chat to our like minded fellows, can feel rightly proud.
I have been volunteering at the RSGB National Radio Centre within Bletchley Park, the home of the "Code Breakers" for the last three years and that is going well. It is so enjoyable to explain the role of amateurs and comms during the war years and to give our valued visitors of both both young and old, morse demonstrations.
Kind regards & 73 to all ....
David
