Biography

Amateur operator since May 1990
Member of G-QRP Club 4502, QRP-ARCI 7632, SKCC 8114, Flying Pigs QRP Club 1943.
I’m not a member of RSGB, so no buro QSL.

HF, only CW, always QRP.
I use a variety of Elecraft portable rigs and the KD1JV MTR5B at home and outdoors, & home-brew wire and vertical tube aerials in a small garden (9.5 x 4 metres).
I enjoy 'rucksack portable' outings when weather encourages me outdoors, and I do some SOTA activation.
I enjoy making (mechanical) stuff.
See main entry (g0nmd) for pics etc..

Equipment

Elecraft portable rigs and the Mountain Topper Radio (when portable and when at home) and little bits of home made stuff.

Home made aerials at home, constantly changing with experiments and storm damage... presently playing with EFHW stuff, for 17, 30 and 40 metres.

For portable, either a home made aluminium vertical in various forms, or wires hung on fishing poles or in trees.

On 6mtrs I use a dipole in the attic or an end fed wire in the garden, the Moxon is now gone (it worked well though).

Thanks for looking me up,
Les
