| Biography I am now old in the tooth and every where else as well! I first started being involved in amateur radio in 1953 having the chance to operate ZB1USA at Half Med HQ. Since then I have held 12 or more different call signs, from Antarctica to Canada, also from the USA east into Africa and Asia. I like to keep the station simple and the Antenna's as near to being 100% efficient as possible, Antenna tuners are antenna trimmers anything more and they are power absorbers.(that's my view)
For years I used only Icom radios but knocking about, Now I have for the first time gone in for an old mans radio. Mainly used is Kenwood TS 480, two side by side modified to give 200 w ssb fed in each, and where possible into independent mono band tuned antennas.
I have many radio friends round the world and am always please to chat with them.
I live 400ft up in the Quantock Hills in a very small village and have a clean take-off from the SE going clockwise round to the NE. My wife Jean now silent key was also a A licensed amateur. In a years time I will be 90 but you can still find me on 60m and 20m mainly. |
