Biography

I am mainly active on HF using digital modes and am currently working towards achieving DXCC using only FT-8. Also just starting to look at IOTA awards....

Because of this, I upload all my QSOs to LoTW, QRZ, ClubLog & eQSL (usually within 24 hours) and would be grateful if you could use LoTW for any contacts we have.

I don't really collect paper QSLs though I may do occasionally for special calls/events etc and I don't currently have any cards to send. I don't use the bureau service.

A potted history....

Initially active from 1986 as G1ULA and then later as G0NGL when I passed the dreaded morse test, though to this day I have never used cw. This may change now I've built a QRP Pixie rig - just need to work out how to run it from the pc!

Was always interested in digital modes rather than voice, which in the 80's meant running a packet bbs and node (GB7NWP on 2m/70cm/23cm) as well as a few other tcp/ip bits and bobs. Closed down the bbs around 1994 after moving to a QTH that didn't really provide the coverage needed. Disappeared from the airwaves entirely in 1995 after the birth of my second child, though I kept an interest in all things radio, computer and electronic.

Now at a new QTH in mid-Cheshire, I have joined the local club (Midcars) and have finally got some aerials up again. Active anywhere from 160m through to 23cms, though I'm most likely to be found on 20/30/40m using digital modes. Also aiming to play SOTA - with digital modes of course...

Main rig is a Yaesu FT-450D (or Yaesu FT-817ND when portable). Current aerials are longwire for 160m and 80m and half size G5RV for all other hf bands.

If anyone remembers me from the NWPUG days, get in touch!
