Biography

Thanks for stopping by. I publish a lot of my features and thoughts on HF propagation, antennas and other ham radio topics at www.g0kya.blogspot.com.

You can find constructional details for the multiband EFHW antenna, which I have developed, at the above site.

I write for a number of radio magazines, including the RSGB's RadCom and ARRL's QST. I am also chairman of the RSGB's Propagation Studies Committee.

When not playing radio I'm a professional journalist specialising in aerospace, science and technology and author of the RSGB's "Stealth Antennas".

I use a lot of CW - it gets out, even with poor antennas!

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Rigs: Icom IC-756 PRO 3
Icom IC-7400
Yaesu FT-817

Current Antennas:
40-20-15-10m Off Centre Fed dipole at 25ft
W5GI dipole for 80/40 at 25ft
Multiband dipoles in the loft for 40-20-17-15-10m
MFJ-1786 Magnetic Loop in the loop for 30m -10m

Other experimental antennas in use at times:
End Fed Vertical Half Wave (EFHW) or multiband version
20m EH antenna
Others are tested for RSGB's RadCom magazine
