Biography

Started back in the late 80's on "B" or Novice as it was then (144Mhz and up).
Passed "A" licence a year later (when 12 wpm morse was required), bought my trusty Kenwood TS440-S and subsequently "life" got in the way so my radio went into storage for... 32 years!!

Finally got to an age when things started to quiten down and having moved to a hill side location just down the road from the legendary global maritime communications centre known as "Portishead Radio" (no longer a thing), overlooking the Bristol Channel (River Severn estuary) it seemed like the perfect location to set up station in 2022.

Not very active but then I was persuaded to go-digital and after a bit of experimentation managed to get the vintage radio hooked up to a USB sound card and with the power of VOX and a laptop stated the log-book onslaught a few days before Christmas 2022.

The rest, as they say, is history!

Still trying to re-learn CW via LCWO website but hitting walls and taking too long a break.
MUST TRY HARDER!

Log files are regularly uploaded to eQSL, QRZ.net, LOTW, and as of today, also here on QRZCQ and HamQTH so plenty to choose from.

No doubt when the digital novelty has worn off I'll venture back to phone but for now it's all warbles and whistles of FT8/FT4 :)
