Biography

First became interested in radio back in 1967 after discovering the crystal set. Shortwave listener ever since, but took the RAE in 85 and became G1PVK. In 87 I took the cw test and became G0HDI.

Main interest since licensed has been data. Last couple of years saw me reverting to swl'ng due to equipment failure and being basically financially challenged hi

Since May 2013 I've become 'Operational' again data wise using an IC-718 at 10 watts into a 'Superstick' 1/4 wave sat on it's own tripod in the summer house. Three supplied radials used. Interface is a Rigblaster Pro. The mode most effective with this setup is jt65-hf, so that is what I'm concentrating on for the forseable.

As of November 2013 I have become hooked on HAB tracking (High Altuitude Balloons) See my new page..

latest toy is a Funcube Pro+ dongle, driven by either SDR Console V2. Amazing! a complete shortwave listening setup for just £150. Very pleased with it. Other kit can be seen on my web page.
