Biography

Licenced in January 2018; I'm very much a novice!

My station consists of a Yaesu FTDX3000, SDRPlay RSP2 and an MFJ 947B balanced tuner; putting out a maximum of 100W. My main antenna is a 22m inverted-V Doublet, fed with 300ohm ribbon. The mast feed point is approximately 8m (26ft) above ground level. I also have a homemade portable 5m antenna which I put up in the garden on sunny days and I operate portable from there!

My first radio was the brilliant Yaesu FT-840. It shared the antenna with the SDRPlay RSP2 via the MFJ1708SDR switch - so I have a full scope capability. This is now my portable set-up.

I don't do much VHF. I have a Baofeng bf-f8hp and mostly use it on local repeaters and attempt satellite & ISS SSTV decoding etc.

I live in South West Dublin 11.5km from the City Centre. Elevation (ASL) is about 100m, the Dublin Mountains are 2km to the south.

Ich rede deutsch (Heutzutage nicht so gut!) und freue mich über jede gelegenheit es zu üben. Hoffentlich mache ich das mit deutschsprachigen radioamateuren!

If we haven't already had a QSO - I hope to meet you on the bands sometime!
