Biography

Licenced in January 2018; I'm very much the novice!

My station consists of a Yaesu FT-840 with an MFJ 947B balanced tuner - putting out a maximum of 100W. My Antenna is an inverted-V Doublet, fed with 300ohm ribbon. This gives me multi-band capability. The mast feed point is approximately 8m (26ft) above ground level.

I also have just started getting into VHF; mostly on local repeaters and attempting satellite and ISS SSTV decoding etc.

I live in South West Dublin 11.5km from the City Centre. The elevation is about 100m above sea level with the Dublin Mountains 2km to the south.

I enjoy listening across the radio spectrum and DXing. For this purpose, I also have the excellent SDRPlay RSP2 which shares the Doublet via the MFJ 1708SDR switch.

I speak German (these days - not so well), and delight in any opportunity to practice it - hopefully I'll get to do this with German-speaking radio amateurs!

If we haven't already had a QSO - I hope to meet you on the bands sometime!
