Biography
I have received my licence in October 2021. I like ragchewing and contesting on HF. My logbook represent my main interests: CW is about 50% of my QSOs, 40% is RTTY, 7% SSB, with only 0.6% of FT8. I would like to get more and better at CW—still learning it, please forgive my mistakes.
Other than operating on my own, I had the honour to team up with: EI0HQ, EI0IRTS, EI100C, EI7M.
I am a member of CWOps #3194, FISTS #21260, and LICW. I am also a member of the IRTS and I also chair the National Short Wave Listeners Club (https://swl.ie) in Ireland, where we train new Irish amateurs to the HAREC exam standard. I am also interested in black and white film-based silver-gelatin photography—see my work on my site. Professionally, I have worked in IT all my life, and I am a data scientist at Project Botticelli (https://projectbotticelli.com). I also teach what I do (https://tecflix.com).
I prefer to QSL via LoTW (updated daily) and buro. If you send me a buro card you will get mine. I also use eQSL but I prefer LoTW. I am happy to mail QSL cards by post: please enclose EUR/USD 2 with yours to cover the postage, or request OQRS using the form https://clublog.org/logsearch/EI6LA
Equipment
My antenna is a G5RV-style inverted-V doublet at 11 m, on a side of a hill sloping towards the sea, which is about 5 km east and 110 m below me. I use Kenwood TS-890S, Gemini HF-1K, MFJ-998RT ATU, Radiosport headset, and a Begali Simplex Mono paddle. I use a Mac for everything. RumLogNG is my day-to-day logger, and DXLog running in Parallels on the Mac for contests.
