Biography

My interest in radio stems back to my early school years where I built my first crystal set followed by 1 valve regenerative receiver and then my first valve broadcast band Superhet Receiver. I was first licenced in the late sixties and then moved to Ireland in 1973. I have been active on all bands ever since. My interests varied between VHF/UHF in the earlier years and then HF in the latter years.

I am very interested in home construction and conversion of commercial mobile sets for amateur usage. I am actively involved with our Local UHF repeater and VHF gateway on 4 metres.

I am now retired and enjoy more time with the hobby and there is very little that I have not tried at this point. I have recently tried SSTV and regularly transmit Digital modes both data and Speech. Unfortunately thre never seems to be enough hours in the day.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Yaesu FTDX5000MP
Icom IC-7200
Yaesu FT707
Kenwood TS-50
Icom IC-M700
Clansman PRC320

Antenna:

Vertical for 10 - 30 MHz
Inverted - L antenna for 160 - 40 metres

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
