Biography

Hello, my name is Stefan. I was born in Hof/Saale in 1970, grew up in Schwarzenbach/Saale and have lived in Düsseldorf since the end of 2000.

I've always been interested in technology. After my apprenticeship as a car mechanic, I served as a soldier as a jet engine mechanic on the F-4F Phantom II (JG 74 / German Air Force) and have been working as a IT system engineer since 1997.

My first experiences with radio were in the late 1970s. A friend's father had a CB radio home station.

For several years now, I've been working with SDR receivers. I currently mainly use an SDRplay RSPduo and an Airspy HF+ Discovery.

RX alone wasn't enough for me, and I'd been interested in amateur radio for decades. Therefore, since mid-August 2025, I finally have a CEPT Novice Radio Amateur License.

Another hobby of mine is astrophotography. I focus on observing the sun, variable stars, and near-Earth objects (asteroids, comets).
