Biography

Hello YL's and OM's

If you have had a QSO with me, thank you for the dialogue. Please QSL in LoTW, not via buro.

My name is Paul and I live in Germany in a suburb of Mannheim. This is about 10 miles from Heidelberg and 50 miles south of Frankfurt. After three decades of inactivity I resumed our hobby some years ago. Now I am retired and have more time.

My rig is an Elecraft® K3 and I operate only in the mode CW.

As a courtesy to my neighbors I operate only inconspicuous antennas. For transmitting I mounted a Diamond® W-8010 trap dipole in zigzag in the attic with additional arms for 160, 30, 17 and 12m. For receiving I built an EWE antenna and a broadband magnetic loop in the garden.

I started taking part in contests, but I'm not a serious competitor. I only take part as long as I enjoy to distribute points. With my above antenna setup I will never become a big gun.

On sunny days I am out and about and sit by the river Neckar with a KX2 or IC703 and a small vertical antenna.
