Biography

I have been licensed since 1986, well known as DL4OBI working many VHF
tropo/aurora/sporadic/meteorscatter DX and contests with my good old
FT-225RD (which is in use until now from time to time) between 1986 - 1993.

During several years focussed to other major (job/business) activities I only
worked temporarely in several VHF contests during 2001-2006.

When I gained my ham activities again in 2007, I decided to swap my callsign
to DL2MF (the DL two meter friend ;-) to get rid of the "missing india".

My major activities are, like in the past, mainly in contesting (DF0XX) and
DX on the VHF band. My rig's are now YAESU FT-847 used as a allmode
monobander for 2m with my Tonna's 16-ele / 9-ele yagi. My YAESU FT-890
with a homebrew dipol is being used for 20/17/15/12/10m.

Current statistics for 144MHz (no EME, no PSK31 or computer modes) are:

DXCC countries: 34 Locator squares: 137 DOKs: 426

Current statistics for KW/shortwave bands (80m-10m) are:

DXCC countries: 42 CQ-/ITU zones: 16/20 WAE: 30

In June 2010 we started an amazing amateur radio balloon project by our local
club OV Celle (H05). Sending some sensor boards, a 2m transmitter with voice
and APRS output and a digital camera to a near space mission, we got some
exciting pictures from the area, where VHF propagation is passing by.

Together with three students from the university of Heidelberg and a school
group we launched our next 3 balloons to the stratosphere in 2012, get more
details and exciting video on my blog or our club homepage (links below).

This year we want to launch again two more balloons, keep on track:
