Biography

QSL policy:

All QSOs are uploaded to LOTW, eQSL, QRZ.com and Clublog every night

Electronic QSL via LOTW preferred, but also via bureau and direct

You can send me a QSL card via bureau, which I will answer 100%

If you send me a direct QSL card via postal mail, I will be happy to return one free of charge

You can also just request a QSL card via bureau (free of charge) or a direct QSL card (2,00 EUR) via Clublog OQRS or via my own OQRS page.

SWLs: I will only confirm, if you list the call of my QSO partner on the QSL card or the electronic confirmation! Otherwise I cannot confirm your SWL report.

Attention QRZ.com and eQSL.cc users:

In order to get a confirmation, your prefix and suffix (e.g. /M, /P, other country prefix) must be exactly the one you have used in our QSO. Same is true for my call sign. Otherwise there is not automatic match and the QSO will not be confirmed. I have no time to manually check all the non matching QSOs. However, in case you are missing a confirmation, please send me a mail and I will try my best to find and confirm the QSO.

If I am working from my Home QTH there will be real-time uploads to QRZ.com logbook  and also an active Clublog livestream.

PLEASE: Do NOT log my call sign with the extension "/QRP", although I am always working QRP. Just use my plain callsign (or /P if portable). Thank you!

I got my licence in October 1982 as a 17 year old student. However, I was only QRV for about 4 years. After I started my studies and my job, I had no more opportunity and no possibility to install an antenna. And other things started to become more important as well.

Now in 2021, after 35 years, I happened to stumble upon amateur radio again. Unfortunately, I still don't have the opportunity to set up a really good outdoor antenna in our apartment building.

For shortwave (SSB and FT8) I am using an Elecraft KX2 since March 2022. This is a very tiny little thing and I already had much fun with it. It does not need much space on my desk and I can just grab it and do some outdoor operation as well.

For VHF/UHF I use an Anytone AT-D878UVII together with a Diamond VX-50N mounted on my window sill at the ground floor.

When I'm at home, I mostly run the Anytone via an MMDVM hotspot based on a Raspberry Pi Zero. Sometimes you will find me also on the repeater DF0MOT (DMR Brandmeister) and DB0HRF (FM), located at the "Großer Feldberg".

When I am online, I can be reached on the Brandmeister talkgroup TG2626 (Hesse) and the IPSC2 (DMR+) reflector 4004 (Hesse). DMR ID: 2628078

I sometimes run the BlueDV software on my laptop together with a DVstick 30, if I am working on my laptop.
