Biography

I first got my Canadian advanced/digital license as a kid in 1973. Have had numerous calls VE6BBU, VE6XE, VE3DWB and VE6DWB. Main reason was to get into radio controlled airplanes but seems that I stuck with cummunication/radio engineering as a career and R/C airplanes as a hobby.

Moved to Texas in 1994 and didn't get reinvigorated until 2012. Decided it was time to get back into the hobby and get my US license AF5FX. Still enjoy HF the most although my CW skills aren't what they used to be. Glad too that other than the technology changes over the last 40 years, the hobby still attracts a lot of friendly folks that are a joy to meet and talk with.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

HF: Yaesu FT-950 (100W) with MFJ-993 tuner feeding a N-S oriented G5RV at 12m. For CW work, Yaesu FT-897 on 30m/15m homebrew OCFD E-W orientation at 10m.

DIG: SignaLink USB and FLDIGI on Mint Linux system.

VHF/UHF: Yaesu FT-897 feeding J-pole at 8m and VX-8DR ht for 2m/70cm.
