Biography

I got my first license as WA5HDC in 1959. I used that until 1966 when I went to grad school and no place for an antenna. In 2013 I retired and move to a place where I could put up an antenna if no body complained. Exactly two years ago I got relicensed as AD9CV. A year ago I moved 200 yards and somebody complained about the antenna. So I had to make ones that touch nothing but my patio. These are all one structure, with different length attachments for 20-6 meters, plus loading coils for 80-30. They are L-dipoles with the horizontal part at 7 feet and the vertical part up to 35 feet. I use a Balun Designs 5 kW low band choke balun for all bands except 6M
which uses a homemade one. The worst SWR at resonance is 1.95:1 and most are under 1.25:1.
