HI and welcome...

You may see me use "Mike" as my greeting on most QSOs. Everyone has called me Mike for years.

Me and Family

Originally born and raised from Yuba City, a native Northern Californian, my wife and I have Finally moved into our Permanent "Retirement Home" located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico to be closer to the wife's family.

Amateur Radio

Licensed 30+ years first as KB6RZE, then finally upgraded to Extra class back in 2001, and thus have earned my Callsign as: AB6EW. I run HF/VHF/UHF voice and digital from the QTH via a Yaesu FT-891.

ARES

I do find EmComm activities to be an integral part of the national communications resiliency and infrastructure - and it certainly can play a role in any major disaster.

I have recently started using VARA and VARAC as well JS8CALL... which I highly recommend everyone at least become familiar with - as they are great tools especially in a grid down or regional disaster situation. Other software and tools I use include: Winlink Express.
