Biography

I've been a radio nut ever since I received a Remco crystal radio set as a kid in the 1960s. I quickly added a transitor radio, walkie-talkies and a Sears shortwave receiver to my "shack". I took my parents GE tube radio and kept it in my bed's headboard cubbie. I listened to far-off AM stations every night, and can still remember what it smelled like once it got warmed up.

I didn't get around to obtaining my amateur license until October 2022. I enjoy being on the air and studied for the Extra exam over the summer 2023, and passed on 9/30/23.

My first and current shack rig is a Yaesu FTdx 1200 with an end fed random wire antenna. I have also put together a portable rig (FT-891, Buddistick and Bioenno battery) for mobile and portable HF work.

I QSL via QRZ, LoTW and snail-mail (no SASE required for NA).
