Biography

Last Edit: July 18, 2015

I love 6 meters. It truly is the magic band! I wish would have found out how great it is long before I moved into town.

I used to do a lot more HF, but I moved into town from out in the countryside where I had room for a Carolina Windom 160, a 265' antenna. I don't have that much room anymore, but I don't have an HOA or anything like that, either. I have purchased a 65' freestanding tower and I just have to get it up and get a beam for it. Hopefully, that'll be soon.

My background is I'm 41 years old (1974) and I grew up in the trucking industry. Back in the 1980's we "shot skip" on 11 meters and in the 90's I was trucking with my parent's business of 15 trucks and a CB was a common thing; therefore, I've been around radios literally all my life and I'm very comfortable with them.

I tried for my ticket in 1988 and failed, like a dummy, because I didn't study - I thought I knew it all. Well, I didn't. I only missed it by one question. Instead of humbling myself and studying, I stiffened my neck and didn't get my ticket until 2011. I sure wasted those years.

I enjoy HF, 20 and 15 primarily. I also love 6 meters, as I mentioned above. I don't care much for FM, unless it's on 6 meters, but I do get on our local club's net on Thursday night, where I am the vice president of the club.

Thanks and I hope you enjoyed knowing a little more about my world.
