Biography

I live on Gozo part of each year and in the UK for the rest of the time. I was born in 1956 and was first licensed as G4GIY in 1977. My main interest is now in QRP CW and I operate on most of the HF bands. I enjoy portable operations and try to activate summits for SOTA when I can.

My hobbies other than ham radio include running (including ultra-distance events), cycling and swimming. Natually those go together as triathlon. I enjoy scuba diving an am a PADI instructor.

Home aerial is a 32m off centre fed dipole at 10m
Various portable aerials (all home made). Most often a linked dipole on a 6m fishing pole. Sometimes a quarter wave vertical for 20m - easier to erect when windy.
