Biography

Welcome to my page if you're here we may have had a QSO and I thank you for that, or you may of just heard my very small reserved station,

My name is Simon, I'm 47 years old and live in a village called Thurnby just 6 km on the east side of the city of Leicester which is 150km north of London and 35km east of the city of Birmingham.

The above picture is me sitting in a ford GT 40 nice car but not mine.

I'm married with two children but now all grown up. I've been interested in radio since the early 1980s where you would hear me on the 11 meters.fantastic times

In the last few years I discovered an Internet program called Hamsphere and my call sigh on there is 26HS3077 which relighted my fire with radio and Ham radio.

So in the late summer 2013 I joined my local radio club (LRS) Leicester radio society http://www.g3lrs.co.uk and took my foundation licence and passed October 2013 .....and this year 2014 I'll be taking my intermediate licence, the members at the club are very helpful (lots to learn)

So that's about it in a nut shell I use most HF bands I love working DX and the digi modes, RTTY PSK31 PSK63 it helps me due to my low power.

I'v up graded my antenna system from a longwire antenna to a broad band Hexbeam 6x bands,

Its mounted on a British ex-modClark SCAM mast (Self Contained Army Mast) is a model of pneumatically-raised telescopic mast of 8 sections manufacturerd by Clark Mast Systems.

The hex beam antenna sits well on the scam mast in the lowered position it's just 3meters 600mm 11feet to the top of the antenna

,

When the masts up and elevated it's over 12 meters 40feet in height, SCAM masts are not light weight! At over 95kg, but two people can move it around you attach the legs, just pump it up and of you go if you lock each section of as you go there is no need to keep the pump attached then stays up forever.

Near the base of the scam is a bearing which the whole mast can rotate, with compass degrees on it so it's easily turned to point the antenna to the right direction no need for rotor.

My wish list, if I had one it would be a rotor, instead of dashing out side and manually rotating the antenna to the desired stations location, it does keep you fit tho

Nice base station tranceiver Icom. Ic-7600

so if you do hear me please give us a call.
